Just thought I’d add an accolade! I just finished “Alone In the Cold” as well — after being drawn into the story, I read it in two sittings! (Unusual for me as a writer — I usually feel guilty reading because I SHOULD be writing!
I was also curious, as a Minnesotan (Brooklyn Center), I was wondering if you were at one time a Minnesotan — your description of freezing feet, whipping snow, and crossing in a blizzard certainly have the FEEL of someone who’s done that! (NOT that there aren’t other places to experience such a thing!) but you do have Richard think, “…back home in Minnesota…”

I’m actually from Vermont originally so I sampled a fair few cold walks there. That said, I spent a winter in MN (Eden Prarie) so I did get to experience next-level cold there. Certainly unlike anywhere else I’ve experienced, and I’ve been to northern Sweden!
